Um, we look at them as historical cases and sometimes it's harder to get data, but these were a series of photographs. So he's riding on a motorcycle with his girl on the back of a Harley Davidson in Castlewood Canyons, beautiful sunset. He's taking photographs of the sunset or she is off the back of the bike. And, um, they're going through the photos later. (0:48:38)
And in the photos, they're very strange. Um, there's a weird, almost like an obelisk, um, column of light. It disappears where like there's a bank of clouds. So it's like a column of light disappears through the clouds where you can't see it and then comes down into the ground. (0:48:55)
But it looks like a box or a square. And as our investigator was researching this, she came across, so that happened, I believe it was June of 2020, that November 2020 in Utah was a similar phenomenon. They were seeing these obelisks out there in Utah and a similar photograph came in, which was like a, an obelisk or a column of square column of light. (0:49:19)
So could you see through the light? Could you see behind the light? Yeah, you could, um, here in a little bit. I have a reason for asking. And then this is the one I edited and put in black and white. This is kind of inverted. But what's interesting is that the shape at the top almost looks like the Calvin UFO, you know, the triangular shape. Isn't it strange? Yeah, it is strange. That was a fascinating case because I have no idea what that could be. It's not a reflection from behind glass because they were on the back of a bike. A guy called Tom Watters and he sent me an image that a farmer took of a column of light shooting up from the ground. Really good picture. という可能性が高い。2020年に撮影したとあるから、最近の多機能携帯電話機で撮影したはず。
多機能携帯電話機の競争は熾烈で、近年、顕著になった傾向だが撮影した映像の見栄えを特に競っている。
それゆえ、素人が何も考えずに撮影しても、かなりの悪条件で撮影した場合ですら見栄えがするように AI で（＝凝ったプログラム処理で）元画像（＝CCD 受光データ）を盛大に加工している（美肌モードの類）。当然、凝ったプログラムにはテストで取りきれないバグが付き物(*1)。
この夕日の撮影の時のように、特殊な条件（＝画像のパターン、露光条件など）でバグが発動し、一枚だけ奇妙な黒い縦のパターンが画像処理の最中に合成されてしまったのだろう。
具体的に言えば、高層ビルのエッジ強調の処理が誤って起動し、薄っすらと直方体が彼方に見えかけているようだ。
これを見た、MUFON 州支部長 の Katie Paige が「Box 状の構造物が空に一時的に出現したのでは…」と推測することになった。そして Steve Mera もそれを真に受けている（過去記事で Mera がこの件に言及した）。

不可解なバグがどうしても除去できない場合も起きうる。特に大規模システムで非同期処理が絡むと厄介。そのような場合は、元のプログラムのデバッグを放棄して、プログラムを新たに作り直す方が結果的に速く対応できることが多いが、それが許されない開発現場も少なくない。そういった不自由な開発現場からは一刻も早く脱獄することを勧める。いずれ近い将来、AI によってその手の開発現場自体が消え去る筈。
