The Roswell Debris

· Sgt. Rickett said this about a piece of the debris he handled.

A: Was it lighter than aluminum foil is today?

R: Well, it give the impression, it didn't have the feel. When you tried to, I said,

A: (interrupting) Could you bend it?

R: be all right if I break it?

A: And he laughed?

R: Cav looked over at Darden, and he says, smart guy! He says, do what we couldn't do. And, go ahead, touch it! Any way, in any description. I said, for God's sake! I said, the best that I could recall, I said, what in the hell is that stuff made out of, I says, it cain't be plastic. I said, don't feel like plastic. But I said, it just flat feels like metal, but I said, I never saw a piece of metal that thin, that you can't bend.

If you can see the tiny little figures at the site, it's just as barren as it looks there. And we spent four days doing the standard archaeological dig, right? You get the screen, you sift the screen. We found a button. We found a button that appeared to be from a military uniform. That was interesting, but it wasn't really exciting because we knew the military was there, right? (00:51:05)

The military went there. Nobody disagreed about that. But we tried. And people have gone there since then and done way more elaborate digs and found hints that there might have been something that went on, but nothing, I don't think anything super compelling. But then there's the testimony. So I personally have interviewed two of the well-known Roswell witnesses. This guy's a little less well-known, Bill Rickett, Louis Rickett. (00:51:39)

He was in the counterintelligence corps. Many of you know the name Jesse Marcel. He was an intelligence officer. But there's the counterintelligence officers. And Cavett, Rickett's boss, is the guy who went out with Marcel to the site. Rickett was off. It was July 4th weekend. He was off. He came back. And Cavett said to him, Bill, I got to go show you something. (00:52:03)

Get a Jeep. We're going out. I'm going to show you something. And so they did. And one of those things included handling a piece of this strangest possible debris at a site that was being guarded by military men. I interviewed Rickett in his mobile home in Florida back in the 90s and with his wife sitting by his side, by the way, confirming everything he was saying from before, because she remembered him coming home and talking about it. Of course, they told him not to talk about it. Of course, he came home and told his wife immediately. But you can see what it says. Piece of material, unbelievably thin, feels like metal, can't bend it. Can't bend it. All right. So eventually, the last flurry of UFO activity with the government was the mid-90s and Roswell. Roswell became such a thing that the government was forced to react to Roswell and put out two reports, the one on the left and the one on the right. (00:53:21)
