写真を左右反転(*1)すればバレないと Glenn Steckling は高をくくっているようだが、甘い。

私はこの写真を幾度も web で見かけてきたが、左右反転された写真は一切、見かけたことがない。この講演で初めて目にした。

これは Glenn Steckling が故意に左右反転して提示したのだ考えると辻褄が合う。

And he happened to have his camera, and one of these objects came over the top of the ridge, and he snapped a shot. When you see the hull in this particular configuration, you're looking at it as when the power system is powered down low. Picture it like a rheostat for your lighting system. As it comes closer and closer to the planet, the power system starts to diminish, so that it does not interfere with the natural electrical currents that our planet produces, and so you can see more of the craft itself. In reverse order, as that power continues to increase, the craft is surrounded by a field of ionization, and becomes enveloped in what we would call a cloud, or a luminescence. It becomes larger and larger as the speed and the power increase. It also helps to deflect any type of foreign debris, or any type of materials that may penetrate the force field, for lack of a better word. (0:26:11)

It's simply deflected away, just goes around like you would water around the edge of an airfoil.
