SPECIAL NOTE I heard you speak at the MUFON symposium in Dayton last year, and I am interested in your research on "Retrievals of the Third Kind". I gave a talk at a local library last week, and in the discussion period following, a fellow told me that when he was a gunner in the Air Force he had emptied his guns on a UFO, and had taken pictures with his gun camera that clearly showed the shells exploding against the side of the craft.
He said the camera was taken off the wing of his plane when it landed and the pictures developed. At 2:00 AM, a couple of military policeman came and got him out of bed, and took him to the base auditorium.
They ran the 17 seconds of movie of the UFO over and over and questioned him, and two other crew members until 10:00 AM. He was warned never to tell anyone what had happened.

以下、タイトルの趣旨の証言に捏造がないと仮定した場合、UFO は本当に射撃されたのだろうか？ 残念ながら YES とはならない。
軍用機、たぶん軽爆撃機兼攻撃機の A-26 (*1)が orb に向けて射撃し、砲弾(*2)が orb の間近で発火したという話だろう。WWII の頃には Foo Fighter と呼ばれる orb が戦闘機や爆撃機の周囲に頻繁に目撃されていた。
この証言の事件も、A-26 の付近に出現した orb を UFO と誤認し、それに射撃したのだろう。実際、UFO に軍用機が発砲し、砲弾が命中したとまでは言われているが、UFO が撃墜されたとは述べていないのがその証拠。砲弾が UFO の機体に損傷を与えた とか UFO の飛行がふらついた とすら言われていない。

仮に、タイトルの趣旨の証言は捏造だったとしても、軍がパイロットに「UFO を発見したら撃墜せよ！」という命令を一時的にせよ 1952年頃に通達したのは事実だろう。上の切り出し静止画の新聞記事だけではなく、多数の証言があるゆえ。
よって、
