So I kind of was suspicious about that. Then what happened was in 1994, I was doing field work in Joshua Tree National Monument. It was October. And one of the things you notice when you're doing field work is you look at a certain section of the sky for a few minutes, five minutes tops, you get bored, you start looking at another section of the sky. So what I discovered on this particular night in 1994 is that every time I turned my head to a different section of the sky, I saw a shooting star. I don't recall we were having a meteor shower at the time, but what was curious about these shooting stars is they all looked alike. (1:00:20)
They all had the same length, same angle extended to the horizon. They were same brightness, same color. And this happened five times in a row. Every time I turned my head to view a different section of the sky, I got the stereotypic shootings. Like it was a video clip. (1:00:36)
When you go to the planetarium, they'll show you video clips of shooting stars. They all look the same. So I turned to Misha and I say, you know, this is really weird. It's almost like there's a consciousness link between me and the shooting stars. So he says, you want to know how many times it happened to me, Joe? I says, yeah, sure. 20 times in a row. Whoa, that same day. (1:00:54)
Phenomena. So I said, well, there's something important going on here. That very night we had some other unusual visual displays. And I think that the term visual display is important because after having these contact experiences, I don't call them objects. I call them visual displays. (1:01:12)
And that's why the UAP designation is superior. Unidentified aerial phenomena. Because once you call it an object, you're ruling out the possibility of holographic projections or whatever. So the following month, it's now November 1994, it's the year anniversary of that prolonged interaction I had where we encountered the jumpers and Misha just missed the UFOs at the end and we got sunburned at night. And we're hoping for a repeat performance, kind of like one year anniversary. And not much is happening in the sky. Oh, we see some unusual shooting stars that are doing zigzag, which shooting stars are not supposed to do. On one, we see a shooting star go down and then go up. (1:02:07)
It's possible they can bounce off the Earth's atmosphere, but it's a very unusual visual display. And we're standing shoulder to shoulder looking to the south. Behind us is the Queen Mountain going up another 1600 feet. We're at 4000 foot elevation. And we're looking at Negri Hill, which is a prominence of 600 feet between us and the circular road in Joshua Tree National Monument. And we're staring at the same section of sky above Negri Hill. And he says, oh, there's another one. (1:02:41)
And I had seen nothing. Hey, there's another one, he says. I said, what are you talking about? He says, I just saw a shooting star right over there. And I said, where? And I looked down his arm like barrel of a gun. He says, right there. There's another one. Three in a row, and I don't see anything. (1:03:01)
So because they... and I said to him from our previous experience, I said, were each of these shooting stars alike? He says, yeah. Same brightness, same location, same angle, same color. It's like a repeat of what we experienced the previous month. So my heart starts beating because I'm realizing this is showtime, show and tell. So I say, Misha, whoever is doing this, could you ask them to show me? He says, show Dr. Birx. And like that, immediately I see a shooting star appear above Negri Hill. And I say, was that like the other three that you had seen? (1:03:35)
He says, exactly like it. And now my heart's beating even more, and I'm thinking this is really important. I said, ask them to show me again. He says, show Joe. And like that, in the same location, stereotypic meteor display. Same angle, same brightness, exactly like the other one. (1:04:01)
Now I'm feeling like so excited my legs are shaking because I realize this is demonstrating how they use the power of illusion. One person is seeing it, one person is not. And this would explain the countless accounts of UFO witnesses, one person describing a phenomenon and others not being able to see it. And then them arguing among each other and saying, well, you made it up. (1:04:19)
So I kind of make a little speech. I'm feeling awkward because it's just Misha and I out there. (1:04:26)
And I say, well, whoever you guys are, I know you're friendly, but we have this thing called coincidence on earth. And people will say, you know, Dr. Birx is a good ER doctor. He takes care of his patients. He knows his stuff. He can make sure that they make it alive, at least till the next day in the ICU. But when it comes to astronomy and shooting stars, he doesn't know his backside from his elbow, you know. (1:04:55)
And could you please one more time, two is good, don't get me wrong, but one more time, please. And there was a pause. It was a pregnant pause. It was like saying, Birx, don't you know what we're doing? Five seconds go by, whereas the others were just like that. Ten seconds, finally, 10, 15 seconds later, a pale shooting star appears, exactly like two others I saw and the five others that Misha reported. (1:05:19)
So from this contact experience and others, I developed what I call the virtual experience model. And a subsequent contact experience that happened on the phone demonstrated some of the technology that is possibly used to stage these kinds of illusions.
