But when you look at a lot of the individual experiences, like just a dog and wrench falling off its perch, or a subjective impression of, I thought I saw someone in a Navy uniform, that could have a natural explanation. What do you think is the most convincing evidence that something genuinely paranormal is happening aboard the ship? Well, several things. (0:24:54)
First is the number of witnesses having, you know, the multi-witness experiences is number one. In some instances, the quality of the witnesses. I mean, some of these guys, one in particular I can think of who was an ex-Navy SEAL, and there's a few others who were of that ilk, you might say. The things that were described could not have been a natural explanation if they're, you know, if you have five people seeing an apparition of an officer who, you know, waves at them or turns around or moves away or disappears, for that matter, in a lit area the size of a hangar bay with nowhere to run, I'd say that's pretty good subjective evidence with that multiple witness situation. (0:25:44)
There have been times, it's hard to say, the dogging wrench kind of popping off a handle, um, maybe there was something natural there. But in the forecast or FOCSOL, one of the experiences, which was witnessed by many people, actually, including some kids, they were doing, there was a Boy Scout evening, so they were doing kind of an overnight with some of the Boy Scouts. And in the FOCSOL, there were these huge chains, and you'll see in certain, on certain posts, these big, big, big wrenches, because there's big lug nuts in various places. (0:26:21)
The wrench is like 80 pounds. Yeah, they're 80 pounds. I tried, I mean, I lifted one off and they're on kind of a double hook. So you have to raise them up, put them up, put up and over, and there is no way for that to move off that. (0:26:35)
I mean, an earthquake wouldn't do it. The ship rocking wouldn't do it. There's nothing. And yet, as he was standing nearby, one of the docents, this guy Bob, reported, and I talked to others who actually heard it, saw that he wasn't, nobody was near it, came off. (0:27:00)
He didn't see it actually lift up. He heard it and saw it kind of rattling on the floor after it fell. And that wrench was absolutely on that post. Those kids could not have moved it. I mean, Bob could have moved it himself, but enough people saw it. A couple of people actually saw it fall. (0:27:19)
They didn't see it lift up. Okay. So we've got an 80 pound wrench that has to come up something like six inches in order to get over the hooks, holding it in place, and then it has to fall. That's right. That's correct. Yeah. That's pretty impressive. And do I understand correctly that they were actually telling ghost stories when this happened? They were telling ghost stories. Yes, they were. (0:27:37)
