このような証言に基づいて、Linda Moulton Howe (*1)は cattle mutilation は UFO/ET の仕業だと主張しているが、それは間違っている。

UFO/ET ではなく、自然発生した orb が牛に触れて被害が生じただけの話。orb の発生自体が稀な現象ゆえ、いまだに誰も orb 接触による牛の体表での水蒸気爆発に思い至らず、怪奇現象という扱いになっているようだが、自然現象として説明がつく。
