USS Hornet : 船内の特定の場所で幽霊の存在を強烈に感じる

その具体的な機序だが、

  • USS Hornet の船体は巨大で、船体内部(*1)の磁化特性が均一ではないため、場所ごとに磁場が大きく変化している、
  • 見学者はその船体の各部を見学コースとして見て回るが、それは各部で大きく変化する磁場に曝されることになる、
  • その過渡的な磁場の変化のパターンが「ESP 能力を活性化させる触媒としての機能」に相当する、

という仮説を今、思いついた。もっとマシな仮説が欲しいところだが、今はこの程度しか案出できない。

で述べた仮説を支持していると解釈することも可能な証言なので、記録しておく。ただ、この仮説には私自身、満足していない。

This is not to say that the ghosts don't also want a certain amount of privacy. For example, Ron Todd reports that there is one area of the ship which he feels the ghosts don't really want to be disturbed, that they consider it their space. There's a passageway that leads from the hangar bay on the port side going to the fo'c'sle, and it's about halfway down that passageway that there is a very strong presence that, and I don't know whether it's one individual or several, but the presence is so strong that it makes me very uncomfortable. The hairs on my arms are standing up. It's right in here. Very, very strong. That it's not frightening, but it's definitely that he or they do not want you in this area. And yet... Oh, it's strong here too. And yet here, in the fo'c'sle, it disappears. There's nothing. When I have gone there, I've moved through the area very quickly. But just to take care of that, when I do lead the hangar bay tours to the fo'c'sle, I go up the starboard side passageway, and there is no presence at all. (1:15:03)

So, respecting their feelings that they don't want us there or want to be disturbed, I respect that and I go up the starboard side. Normally, when a ghost appears, it's only a single ghost, but here it sounds like there's a whole community. Have the psychics and others formulated any theories about what the ghosts are doing on board the Hornet? Stash touched on this towards the end of one of the clips that we heard, but here she goes into more depth about what she perceives. (1:15:28)

The sense and purpose of the spirits being here, clearly to me, is to help and facilitate in preserving the Hornet and her legacy. (1:15:38)

Um, they're very proud of what they have done on here, and in the past, or the history, and this ship was about to be sold for scrap at six dollars per ton. So, it was a lot of work to save it and have a historical museum to share information and history of what went on. And this is something that Bob Rogers concurs with. (1:16:09)

When this interview was filmed in 1999, the National Hornet Foundation had just been able to obtain the ship from the Navy and save it, and he feels that the ghost definitely helped with that effort. Well, first of all, I absolutely believe they're here. I have felt them on a number of occasions now. I become aware of them in the office here at times. (1:16:30)

Um, I, personally, I like the ghosts, and I feel very comfortable with them, and I'm sure they've helped us through the saving of the ship to bring the ship back to be a museum and a national treasure, and to show herself off and to tell the history of not only Hornet, but the United States, and of that, particularly the time period that she was active, on active duty. And according to reports, the ghosts aren't just helping to live in. (1:16:59)

They're also helping each other. Speaking of herself in the third person, Stash writes, A few of the ghosts appear to have been identified. One of these is that of Admiral J.J. Clark. Stash also felt some details about the chaplain, that he was an Irish Roman Catholic with a last name starting with M and a nickname of Padre. She felt his presence was very much around, and that he was still working to help some of the stuck ghosts on the ship move on. (1:17:27)

And if that's true, that would be a very interesting fact about the ghost community on the ship, where the former Catholic chaplain, being a ghost who quickly moved on in the afterlife and then came back, is helping the ghosts of other crew members who are still in the early stages and are somewhat stuck in those. (1:17:49)

That would mean that the chaplain is doing the afterlife equivalent of the same kind of ministry that Father Nathan Castle reports doing for stuck souls that reach out to him.
