I was using the same hairdresser as a guy. And there was a group of people in the chairs behind waiting to take their turn. And I got the same feeling I always get when I know something's going to happen. And it just comes over me. And normally I try to put it at the back of my head. (2:32:32)

I just got this feeling he was going to cut his hand. So I asked him, I said, you know, you are pretty nifty with those scissors. Have you ever cut your hand? He says, no, not in my entire career. And everyone in the room heard it. And within a few minutes, he had cut his hand between the wedding. (2:32:52)

And there was blood everywhere. Everyone looked at me like some sort of demonic person. And he ran into the back room, bandaged up his hand, and you could cut the silence with a knife. It was palpable. I was there in shock myself, because it was within it was within 24 hours of me talking to my girlfriend. (2:33:14)

And I try to avoid that now, anyway. So that's my introduction to my experience.

この謎を解く​

この体験を予知や（彼の言うところの）遠隔視と見なすのは無理がある。予知ではなく、彼が理髪師に余計なことを語ったために、理髪師が彼の話によって手先の運動を意識し過ぎたために手元が狂っただけ。

つまり、

  • 時間をかけた訓練によって体が習得した、複雑な小脳による自動的な身体動作が、
  • 大脳からの意識な介入によって、阻害され、ぎこちない動作となって怪我をした

と解釈すべきもの。

楽器を扱える人なら、この小脳的な身体動作と大脳的な意識的な認知の微妙な関係が演奏のコツだと知っている。大脳が読み取った楽譜の音符パターンが、そのまま指使いとしての小脳的運動に自動変換される。 つまり、音符のグループを視覚パターンとして入力され、それがコンパイルされて 10本の指の連携した運動という出力になるまでが、ほぼ自動実行される。

この自動変換された指使いに大脳が直接介入すると無様な演奏となる。
