The most scariest encounter would take too long to tell the whole thing and tell it properly. But back in the 90s, I had an encounter with two black-eyed children. Is that right? There's a version of that on a channel here on YouTube called Unicorpse Tales. Like unicorn except corpse, Unicorpse Tales. Tanya, the girl that has that channel, she interviewed me, and it seems like it's about a half hour long or so. (0:27:01)
But that one, I don't think I'll ever write about that one because just the irrational fear that I experienced. I don't think my writing would ever be good enough to capture it. And even when I tell it, you can tell I get my hands sweat. I get a waver in my voice and stuff. But that was the most frightening, really the least frightening. (0:27:22)
It was two little girls in a parking lot at two o'clock in the morning. (0:27:26)
I was moonlighting as a hired gun, like a network engineer, and I was rewiring a place for a Cat5 cable hub. They were going from the old dumb terminals up to the actual PC at everybody's desk. So I'd go in after they were finished for their day. It was a medical office. And then I'd stay till midnight or after sometimes running this network across three different floors. (0:27:51)
And I was coming out. There was almost finished with that particular job contract thing. And coming out about two o'clock in the morning, and I came out and on the far end of the parking lot. This is an industrial area. There's nothing around there. Two little girls sitting on the curb. And I thought, well, that's kind of weird. So I'm putting my stuff in my car. (0:28:12)
Had a little Mazda Miata at the time. Trunk wasn't much bigger than a glove box on some cars. So I'm like playing Tetris and trying to get all my network stuff on the cable, spool, and this and there. Already had stuff in the front seat. And like every time I'd glance over, the first time they'd stood up. The next time I looked, they're a little closer. (0:28:31)
I never actually saw them move. But every time I looked over, they were a little closer. And when they got close enough that I could hear, the shorter one, which I'm assuming was the younger one. They're probably the older one. I mean, the taller one I'm guessing was maybe 12, 13. And then the shorter one, I would say about the size of a nine or 10 year old. (0:28:49)
They're wearing dark clothes, like very plain, like black jeans and dark colored hoodies. And the taller of the two, what I said, I believe is the older one. She was talking nonstop. And it was like, not to me, but about me to the other one. Oh, he'll let us in. He'll take us in his car. He won't leave us out here. It's cold. (0:29:12)
It's dark. It was dark, but it wasn't cold. It was in the summertime. And just the same thing over and over. She kept just saying the same thing. He won't leave us here. He'll invite us in. He has to let us in. He can't leave us here. And but she never addressed me. But by the time they got up close to the car, I saw because I was under a streetlight there. (0:29:29)
They didn't have any eyes. It was black in there. And I'm just like, holy God, never heard of such a thing before. And it was just it scared the crap out of me. Total flight or flight like a feral fear. And I couldn't explain it. It's the way it was rolling on because it wasn't anything to be scared of. But it was whatever was around them or whatever was controlling them or whatever. (0:29:54)

It might have been some kind of projection of it. It felt demonic to me. That truly did. And I finally got in. I got my car started and they were right up to where they could have jumped in the car because I had the top down. And instead of driving out normal, I went down through the lawn of the place, jumped the curb, had a girlfriend that I stayed with sometimes when I worked late because she lived close to my regular nine to five gig. And that night, even though I had to be at work the next morning instead of going to her house, which is only a couple of miles away, turned the other way, tore down Pellissippi Parkway there in West Knoxville. And I'm doing like 100 miles an hour in this little Miata. And I kept looking in my rearview mirror, not for the cops, but I had this irrational thought that I'm going to look back and those little girls are going to be like hanging on the back of the car or I'd look over and they'd just be in the seat or something. Just, you know, stuff that didn't make any sense. Drove all the way to my parents' house in Oak Ridge, which was a good 20, 25 miles away. Got to their house, went in the driveway, pulled around back and parked under a tree, which I'd never done. Let myself in. They were long asleep. And I stayed up the rest of the night, like going peering out the windows and looking out the kitchen door like these two little girls are just going to show up. (0:31:16)
And they never did, of course. And I ended up, once it was daylight, then I called in sick to my other gig and then slept what I could. But it was frightening. I still, even when I tell it, it's like almost a PTSD type thing. I relive it in my mind and it's gotten easier. I wouldn't even talk about it for a long time. (0:31:39)
Yeah, because I've never heard it before. And part of that was the fear that I'm part Cherokee and a lot of the elders will caution you against just by talking or even thinking about certain things. You can draw it to you. So I was like, you know, I certainly don't want these things to show back up. But the first time I talked about it was on the old Art Bell show and Art was sick that night and Heather Wade was sitting in porn. (0:32:06)
And it was great, though. He called in during one of the commercial breaks to tell her what a good job she was doing. And he said, hey, Steve, I like that story. I just said, wow, I talked to Art Bell. He goes, he's a legend. But that night after I was done with that show, there was a house I was living at the time. (0:32:23)
I had perimeter alarms. I had motion lights and all this stuff. (0:32:28)
None of that tripped off, but there was a knock at the front door. Bang, bang, bang. And then I heard what sounded like a scream that came into the house, went all the way through the house and out the back. At first, I thought something happened to my daughter. I ran, flung her door open, turned the light on. She's in the bed asleep and I'm like, are you OK? And she's like, yeah, why? (0:32:49)
I said, did you hear that scream? And she said, no, but I told you, don't talk about those damn black eyed kids. And other times I had just some minor things like that happen. Somebody else told me they were listening and they had, I think, some paintings fell off the wall. That happened in my house. I had some glass things that shattered just on their own. (0:33:12)
But I don't think I'll ever write that one. Like I said, I just don't think I could capture the emotion that comes across when I tell it. But that's the most frightening encounter that I've ever had. And like I said, the one that should be the least frightening is just a couple of kids in a parking lot. Well, in the morning, but it was the circumstances and whatever was coming off them was coming off them in waves. (0:33:34)
And that's what was scaring me. You know, when I talk to two experiencers of black eyed kids, it's palpable when they talk about it, as opposed to even somebody who sees a Bigfoot at a distance or something. You know, these things are concentrated on them. They're talking to them for the most part. And yeah, I, you know, what do you think it is? (0:33:59)
Do you think it's a possession thing or what? You know, I've never really been able to pinpoint or pin down what these things really are. I think it's either a possession thing or almost like some sort of demonic shape shifter. I think anything that's evil like that, it could appear to you in any number of ways. And if you look at people that have experienced stuff like that, I mean, starting with the men in black, they wear nice clothes, they drive nice new cars, but then they're kind of messed up. They've got these odd speech patterns, their skin looks strange. And it's like, whatever sent that out. So, okay, well, that didn't work. Let's send phantom clowns. Everybody loves clowns, but then it's these weird, creepy clowns that come out of the woods and chase people. Nobody loved them. And then it's like, well, well, damn it. What about kids? Everybody loves kids. We'll send kids out to try to get into people's places and stuff. (0:34:50)
But then it's these creepy kids with black eyes that talk in this weird monotone. Yeah, that would creep anybody out, I would think. And the only story I've ever heard of somebody that let them in shortly after that, her husband died of some really strange, like a cancer or blood disease. (0:35:07)
