The witness, 38-year-old Jose Luis Morais Luna Almeida, a local banker, was watering his garden late at night when he noticed a strange figure that was about thirty meters away and looked like a very intense light source composed of dull gray-blue color which illuminated the background. The strange figure had a broad upper part and a head with the same dull gray-blue tone, having, however, in this same upper part a whitish-colored central square that had at its center a flashing orange light that flashed in and out with "extraordinary slowness." The witness calculated the dimensions of the strange humanoid as being, two meters high by one meter wide. He could not see the lower portion of the figure as it was standing behind a brick dividing wall separating the neighbor's yard and was about 80cm high.
The witness could not distinguish the figure's arms or legs. As soon as he noticed the strange being the witness was possessed with a state of panic, he remained staring at the figure for a brief time, glued to the ground and unable to move, perhaps due to the state of shock in which he found himself. As soon as he managed to move, which did not take long, he ran out of the yard into his house and ran upstairs where he came across his mother and wife who became quite alarmed as to his condition. His hair was standing up on end and had turned whiter than "whitewash". For more than three days after the incident the witness refused to speak about the incident, and even today reticently does so. Due to the fact that the witness fled the area he did not see the strange luminous figure depart.

But I wanted to include it because it involves a very unusually described humanoid, which in this case appears to be robotic. This is another example of a witness who really did not want to talk about what happened to him, simply because I think it affected him emotionally pretty deeply. (0:34:55)

The witness in this case is Luis Morey Luna Almeida. He was a 38-year-old banker at the time of this incident. It was 1.30am early one morning in mid-September of 1977 as Luis was watering the garden behind his home located in Gondomar, Portugal. Looking up, he noticed a strange figure standing just about 100 feet away, a little less, behind the brick wall that divided his home from his neighbor's home. (0:35:54)
Luis could see only the top half of this figure, who he estimates was fairly tall, perhaps about six feet high, but really wide, three feet wide. He noticed this figure because it was shining a very intense gray-blue light at the witness. He says this figure looked robotic, with very broad shoulders, a small squarish head. In the head section, where the face would be, was this white square face plate, which contained a circle inside of it, and it was this circle which was the source of the light. (0:36:28)
It was flashing an orange light in and out with, quote, extraordinary slowness. So, seeing that this being was clearly not human, Luis instantly panicked. He stared at this strange figure for only a few short moments, unable to move due to the shock and strangeness of this being. But after a few moments, fear overcame his inability to move, and he fled in terror back into his house. (0:36:55)
His wife and mother, upon seeing him, saw that he was pale white and his hair was standing on end. He was so deeply traumatized by the encounter that he was unable to speak about the incident. He did not go outside to investigate, and it was in fact some time before he could even talk about it to anybody. How interesting is that? I have to wonder what this robotic being was doing there, just kind of looking at this witness. It's a shame he had such a strong fear reaction and ran inside, because perhaps this could have been a more extensive encounter. And the strong fear reaction people have certainly does have an effect on how an encounter unfolds. (0:37:52)
I really am curious about why people are so fearful of a being that, you know, they don't understand perhaps. I guess it's the fear of the unknown that causes people to react this way. But it's unfortunate, because again, this being didn't do anything to him. It was just looking at him. So, I don't know. I mean, I understand, certainly, when something happens that's completely out of your worldview, it's very difficult to process. (0:38:19)
But to be so traumatized to the point of not even being able to talk about it, this is an important aspect, because we really do need to be able to talk about these things. There are so many people having this experience. We really should be able to discuss it more openly, publicly, and support people who are having these kinds of experiences. (0:38:44)
