カナダ人の Wilbert Smith が関与した UFO 情報について、Web 上では様々なものが出回っている。だが、彼の専門知識の信頼度を評価した記事は全く見かけない。そこで、彼自身の著書を引用した上で評価を行った。

はじめに
Wilbert Smith は、1950年から 1954年の間、カナダ政府の行った UFO 調査にも貢献した通信技術者だといわれている。
The question of communication addressed to Smith was important, not only because he headed up the official government investigation into UFOs from 1950 ? 1954, but because Smith was one of the foremost communications experts of the day.
Smith worked as the chief radio engineer for the Canadian government, going on in 1956 to head up the countries radio regulations department. More importantly, he was in charge of monitoring 50,000 radio frequencies in Canada, and ran the Top Secret “Radio Ottawa” where spies would radio in to intelligence services.

その Wilbert Smith がインタビューで、「テンソル・ビームによる通信（Tensor Beam transmission）」なるものを語っていた。脳の中の心的なイメージを電気的な形で抽出し、それでテンソル・ビームに変調をかけて通信することで、言語によらずに会話ができる…というもの。しかも、彼には実際にその通信を行った経験もあるという。
Smith’s reply to the interviewer regarding the subject of talking to aliens was positive.
“Some of the communications have been on a face-to-face basis but I have not been so honored myself. Some of the communications have been by ordinary radio, and I have received a few messages by this means. But by far the majority of the communications are by what we call Tensor Beam transmission, which uses a type of radio with which we are only vaguely familiar, and which I couldn’t possibly attempt to describe now. However, the mental images of the person wishing to transmit are picked up electrically amplified and modulated into a tensor beam, which is directed to the person to whom the transmission is addressed, and within whose brain the mental images are recreated. The transmissions are therefore very precise, and independent of language. I have had some experience with these transmissions myself and can say that they are like nothing within the conventional experiences of earth people.”

あまりにも胡散臭い話（そもそもテンソル・ビームって何？）なので、Web で彼の研究内容なるものを調べてみた。
調査結果
まず、Wilbert Smith（Wibert Brockhouse Smith）の経歴から。大学で電気工学の修士号の資格を得て、カナダのラジオ局に就職し、主任技術者となった。1939年にカナダ運輸省の通信部門に加わった。
Wibert Brockhouse Smith was born at Lethbridge, in the Province of Alberta, Canada on the 17th of February, 1910. He exhibited early in life an eager interest in the nature of things. At the age of 15, he wrote a treatise dealing with the controversial concept of perpetual motion. He was also the author of several scientific novels. After having obtained his S. SC. And M. Sc. Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Columbia in 1933 and 1934, he spent four years on the staff of radio station CJOR in Vancouver, BC, where he became chief engineer. Wilbert Smith の著書 "The New Science" 1964年
から、重力についての数式とその説明の箇所を下に引用する。
下の反転表示した英文には「重力場は電場の歪みによって生じる」（"the gravitational field is due to the skew electric field"）という驚愕の記述が含まれている。重力を扱った Einstein の一般相対論が発表されてから半世紀近くが経過しているのに、かりにも電気工学の修士号を持った人間がこんなデタラメな説明をするなんて信じがたいほど。もちろん下図に含まれる数式もデタラメ（数式の両側で単位の次元が既に不一致）。
Wilbert Smith は 12の基本的要素…としているが、その 12の基本的要素とは下の表のとおりで、
- 長さ、面積、体積という 3つの要素から空間が構成され、
- 勾配、発散、回転という 3つのベクトル演算要素から場が構成され…
と言ったあまりにもトホホな内容。

疑似科学が必ずと言っていいほど誤用する量子論もチョロッと顔を出している。プランク定数が線の次元だと述べており当然、間違っている。（好意的に解釈すればプランク長の誤記だが、その場合でもプランク長は「線」ではない）
The first degree of awareness of the basic concept is length. This is a bald statement and although many other combinations of words could be sued the MEANING is identical. Again, the understanding of this parameter is a personal matter and the mere reiteration of a formula will never convey understanding. Hence another personal visit into Nothing-At-All and a first hand view of the basic concept is called for. The viewing should be by means of the Quadrature Concept and, if correctly carried out to the exclusion of all else, that which is viewed will be the concept of length. Wilbert Smith の上述の本（の Web に up された前半部分）によれば上の 12の基本的要素の更に前には、時間も空間も物質も変化も無い「全くの無」（nothing at all）と「気づいていること」（Awareness）だけがあったという。そして「全くの無」に「気づいていること」が入り込んで 12の基本要素からなる世界を作り上げた…というようなオハナシ。
テンソル・ビームに関する記述が下。それによると

というような、実に杜撰な代物だった。
In the previous consideration the operation of the tempic field on the electric field was proposed as the starting point. If, however, the initial operation was on the magnetic field, an additional complication gets injected. The electric field so generated can have its required divergence only if the whole systemis folded back on itself. This establishes a condition where the magnetic field is entirely closed on itself about a tempic field "core", with the electric field interlaced with alternating polarity. Picturesquely, it would look like a string of magnetic doughnuts of alternating magnetic direction, stuck together with electrostatic icing of alternating polarity, and all threaded into a string of increased tempic field and placed inside a tube of decreased tempic field. A most complicated picture, but one which does exist in this universe and has some most remarkable properties. For lack of a better name it is called "tensor energy".
Tensor energy carries its tempic field with it, so it is therefore not subject to propagation, and both ends of the beam are actually simultaneous (interval zero). The beam does not dissipate and has the same numerical values at the receiving end as it has at the transmitting end. Regardless of the combination of field conditions encountered at the receiving end, the same relationships are maintained as existed at the transmitting end. Reversing the initial polarity of the magnetic field will place decreased tempic field on the inside and increased on the outside, so that several tensor beams can be stuck together as a "cable". Since the tensor beam does not have any external field of any kind it is immune to any and all outside field effects. The only manifestation external to the beam itself is the tempic field gradient of the outer sheath.
Wilbert Smith が tensor を理解していないのはほぼ確実。下の箇所を見る限り vector だって怪しい。
結論
Wilbert Smith に UFO に関する科学的な専門知識は期待できない。特に重力に関する彼の知識は全くの誤り。彼が専門としてきた電気工学の知識にも疑問符がつく。
Wilbert Smith の著書の "The New Science" の内容は疑似科学ですらない。独自の哲学に基づく空想的理論とでも言うような代物。
Wilbert Smith の言うテンソル・ビームには確たる内容は何もないので無視してよい 。

Grant Cameron はカナダのベテラン UFO 研究者で、Wilbert Smith （カナダ人）の事例にも詳しい。

そういった事例を調べると、どの事例でも ET は abductee にデタラメな装置を見せ、デタラメな理論を教えていたことが判明する。
Grant Cameron の言うとおりならば Wilbert Smith は ET から理論と数式を downlaod した。そして ET は Wilbert Smith も騙していたことになる。
Grant Cameron 自身も UFO/ET/超常現象/幽霊等 に共通した核となる「決定的な情報」を download したと公言している。Grant Cameron は自分が download した情報は正しいものと確信し、講演やインタビューで熱心にその「決定的な情報」を説いている。彼はそれが自身の使命だと信じている。
ET から教わった情報や downalod した情報はほとんど全てがデタラメだったことを考慮すると、Grant Cameron の説く UFO/ET/超常現象/幽霊等 に関する「決定的な情報」、つまり「意識が全ての謎を解くキーだ」という（精神世界ファンが大歓迎する）説も、デタラメである可能性が高くなる。

Wilbert Smith が彼の著書 "The New Science" の中で「この本で扱っている情報は進んだ文明から得たものだ」と述べている箇所を引用しておく。

I have never met any of these people from elsewhere myself face to face, although several of my friends have, and I have confidence in their veracity. I have communicated with them by radio and by "tensor beam", and indirectly through contacts, and I can honestly say that I am as well acquainted with some of these people from outside as I am with people with whom I work at my office.
